HP Police stood 1st among all States/UTs in Police Verification Reports (PVR) for Passport Issuance

 Shimla, 18th  November, 2022. Passport is the basic identity document and essential for any foreign travel. Millions of Indians apply for passports every year to be able to travel abroad. Police Verification Reports (PVR) are the basis for the issue of passports by the Regional Passport Office.

It is a matter of great honour that the State of Himachal Pradesh has been adjudged
1st in all State/UT police in passport verifications during the year 2021-22 by the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi. For this achievement, Hon’ble External Affairs Minister,
Dr. S. Jaishankar has awarded Himachal Pradesh Police with the ‘Certificate of Recognition’
today at New Delhi. The Award was received by Shri Sanjay Kundu, DGP-HP from Dr.
S. Jaishanker, Hon’ble Foreign Minister in MEA HQs New Delhi.

In the year 2016, the average time of passport verification was 70 days. We have
brought down the time for PVR to 24 Hrs i.e one day in the year 2021-22.

The progress of passport verification is monitored by the Director General of Police,
HP on weekly basis during Monday meeting. Earlier the passport verification were sent through postal dak to the concerned Police Stations by the respective Distt. SPs. Now the same are transmitted to concerned Police Stations through e-mail for verification and the replies are also received through mail. Moreover, prompt action is taken for verification at SP office and Police Station level on receipt of applications for passport verification’s, as a result, HP Police is sending replies of passport verification within 24 hours.
