Rights and Centre for Child and woman Studies, Himachal Pradesh National law
university is organising a Two-Day International Multidisciplinary Conference
on the topic: Women & Intellectual Property: Accelerating Innovation
& Creativity in association with the Himachal Pradesh Council for
Science, Technology, and Environment (HIMCOSTE). The Conference is being held
from 26-27 April, 2023.
Professors of international repute from renowned
educational institutions from across the world and India graced the inaugural
ceremony of the session in the HPNLU, Shimla campus at Shimla. During the
conference, various aspects of women and their contribution to the field of
intellectual property were discussed. 80 participants from 30 institutions from across
the world are participating and presenting papers during the conference through
the online and offline medium.
In the inaugural session, Prof. Enrico Bonadio, Reader,
City, University of London discussed the nuances of women’s role in the field
of IP and the contribution they have made globally to the field of IP. Prof.
M.K. Bhandari, Director, GALTER discussed the framework for bringing
gender-parity in the field of intellectual property. Prof. V.C. Vivekanandad,
Vice-Chancellor, Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur discussed the issues
associated with the institutionalisation of science as a discipline and the
commodification of innovation in consonance with the marketing orientations. He
further discussed the ramifications of such commodification on women and
hinderances created, thereof, to their contribution in the field of IP and
innovation.
The conference is being organised by Dr
Chandreshwari Minhas, Associate Professor of Law and Dr Chandrika, Assistant
Professor of Law under the leadership of Prof. Nishtha Jaswal, Vice-Chancellor,
HPNLU, Shimla.
